There’s a lot to love about Deep Creek Lake, especially if you’re into waterfront property, gorgeous state parks, and good food.
We’re an all-four-seasons-fun kind of place, with hiking in the spring, water sports in the summer, stunning foliage in the fall, and skiing in the winter. Plus, we’re never short on crab.
When it comes to the great outdoors, Garrett County has it all.
We do, however, wake up day after day and face a suspicious lack of access to Chipotle.
I know, I know—this is a First World problem. But still. Sometimes, after a good hike, you just need a burrito bowl with extra guac.
Thankfully, in the heart of Deep Creek Lake lives a little place called The Casselman Bakery and Cafe. It’s a great spot for breakfast (my kids worship their donuts), but it’s their lunch menu that keeps me coming back for more.
My go-to order is their chicken and rice bowl. It’s the closest I’ve come to tasting Chipotle in Garrett County—except it’s better.
Everything at The Casselman is made from scratch and packed with flavor. The owners come from a Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish background, so you know their recipes are simple, classic, and absolutely delicious. (You can even watch their team prepare baked goods at their Grantsville location!)
Of course, if you’re not in the mood for a burrito-style bowl, they have lunch options for you, too. Their ham and cheese rolls are *chef’s kiss* and should not be slept on.
Honestly, everything they serve up is good. I haven’t had a single bad dish—and that’s saying something. I visit The Casselman a lot; the team knows me by name.
So, whether you’re looking for a melt-in-your-mouth donut or a better-than-Chipotle bowl, head on over and tell them Justin sent you. You won’t be sorry.
